Do you regularly run out of hot water, and do you plan to stay in the home more than seven years? Two yeses point to tankless. Otherwise a quality tank with annual maintenance is the better value.
The Hidden Variable: Gas Capacity
A whole-home tankless unit needs 150,000 to 199,000 BTU. If your meter and line cannot deliver it, the upgrade cost changes the math. Always get that measured before comparing quotes.
